Wilson concludes his 'History' by stating: 'It was the intention of the writer of this little work to have closed it by attempting a general character of the boys upon the establishment, when he accidentally met with the following account of the Hospital and the Character of the Boys...It was written by a gentleman well known in the literary world, who had himself passed seven years in the Hospital, and was communicated in 1813 to the Editor of the Gentleman's Magazine.'
