The book was issued in two variant jackets, one printed in black and red and the other in black and green. The proofs also came in two color variants. This is the red. A very good paperback copy. Spine toned with the typical tanning and cracking at the spine; stained and chipped at the upper spine corner. Front hinge weak. Creases and short tears to fold of front flap of paper wrapper. Inscribed by the author on the half-title 'To Donald Kaufmann whom I knew when! Cheers, Don / Norman Mailer / May 2005.' Kaufmann published one of the first critical studies of Mailer, Norman Mailer: The Countdown (The First Twenty Years). Scarce.
