Original panorama photograph, 7.75 x 79 inches, printed on 10 x 84 inch paper. Dramatic photograph of 24 cannons facing forward with tractors behind each with uniformed soldiers on each side of the cannons. Officers and color guard in front. Open field behind. The 31st Artillery brigade was formed from Coast Artillery Corps Companies from Key West, Florida, January, 1918. They were sent to France and returned to New York in 1919. In October, 1919, they moved to Fort Lewis. The U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) had an administrative corps responsibility for coastal, harbor and anti-aircraft defense of the U.S. and its territories between 1901 and 1950. M. D. Boland (1873-1950) was a Tacoma-based photographer who worked for over 30 years. First edition (first printing). Very good copy with edge chips, pin holes and margin soiling. Photograph is very good with some wrinkling but no tears or folds. Photo identified Boland M 1006 in negative on lower left. Scarce.
