Redstockings, a radical feminist organization founded in 1969 'to defend and advance the Women's Liberation Agenda.' It was reformed in 1973 and published a journal, Feminist Revolution. A near complete anthology of articles from the journal was published by Redstockings in 1975, The anthology was republished by Random House in 1978 but omits a controversial report on Gloria Steinem's involvement (and other deletions) with a liberal youth group that was later revealed to have been funded by the CIA. This later anthology caused a lasting rift between members of Redstockings and feminists who were close to Steinem (who defended her involvement - see the reprint of Washington Post story of 1967 included in the collection). PR discusses the Randon House publication and the censoring. 2. Reprint of Washington Post article, single sheet, 8.5 x 11 inches, recto only, 'Work of CIA With Youths At Festivals Is Defended,' by Robert Kaiser, February 18, 1967. 4. Fact Sheet, 'Chronology of Events Surrounding the Random House Publication of 'Feminist Revolution'. 2 pages, 8.5 x 11 inches, printed on both sides with chronology from May 9, 1975 to October 27, 1976. No date. 5. Fact Sheet, 'Deletions Made by Random House After Threats of Libel Suits,' single sheet, 8.5 x 13.75 inches, printed on both sides, no date. 6. Events Surrounding the Deletion from 'Feminist Revolution' of the Articles 'Gloria Steinem and the CIA' and 'From a Finnish Notebook,' Single sheet, 8.5 x 11 inches, printed on both sides, no date. 'Cast of Characters (partial),' which includes Glria Steinem, Clay Felker, Ms. Magazine Corporation, Warner Communications, Women's Action Alliance, Franklin Thomas, League of Women Voters Overseas Education Fund, and Katharine Graham. Ends with list of letterheads of the law firms represented on the correspondence with Redstockings. With unaddressed mailing envelope with Redstocks name and details in red in upper left corner. Envelope with mild soiling and scuffing.
