Israel Keech Tefft (1974-1862) was born in Rhode Island and moved to Savannah in 1816. He was the editor/proprietor of the Savannah Georgian, closely associated with the Bank of the State of Georgia, and one of the founders of the Georgia Historical Society. He amassed one of the world's largest autograph collections which was sold in New York in 1866. Autograph letter, one sheet folded to create 4 pages, 8 x 10 inches when folded, written on allsides. Dated London May 28, 1837. Addressed 'My dear Mr. Tefft'. Long chatty letter re adding to Tefft's autograph collection. About 750 words. Letter has been previously folded for mailing with address and wax seal on outside of folded letter.
