Single sheet, 4 x 6.25 inches. Archibald Geikie (1835-1924) was a Scottish geologist and writer. He was the Director General of the Geological Survet for the United Kingdom in 1881 and the Director of the Museum of Practical Geology, retiring in 1901. He was President of the Royal Society in 1909. First edition (first printing). very good copy. On letterhead of The Athenaeum, Pall Mall, B. W.: 'Sir Archibald Geikie has much pleasure in accepting the invitation with which the President & Council of the Society of Chemical Industry have honoured him to discuss on July 12th. 20th June 1905.' Previously folded. Remnant of pasted paper on rear upper 1 inch.
