Autograph letter signed, dated Nov. 30, '85, on letterhead Highbury, Moor Green, Birmingham: 'Dear Mr. Hall, I have engagements which I cannot postpone between 14 & 19 December but I could give you three sittings Dec. 8, 9, & 10 if these dates would suit you. Othersise I fear I shall not have the plaesure of seeing you till the new year. Yours very truly, J. Chamberlain.' Joseph Chamberlain (1836-1914) was Secretary of State for the Colonies Lord Salisbury. Francis Montague Holl (1845-1888) was a painter. The portrait referred to was finished in 1886 and belongs to the National Portrait Gallery.
