Chester Kessler (1919-1979) moved to San Francisco in 1949 where he studied photography with Minor White. In the 1950s he immersed himself in the North Beach Beat scene photographing writers, poets and artists. A copy of this image is in the National Portrait Gallery. Near fine photograph.
