Utah's Greatest Manhunt: The True Story of the Hunt for Lopez by an Eye Witness

B. E. Gallagher, 1913. First Edition. Trade Paperback. Item #79693

142 pages. Illustrated. An account of Rafael Lopez, a Mexican American miner who killed several men, holed up in a mine, and somehow evaded capture, despite efforts to smoke him out. According to the author of this book, Lopez was from northern Arizona and had little patience for discrimination or prejudice, frequently erupting into violence when he was slighted. Gallagher writes, 'Lopez, being a native of this county, it is likely that if taken advantage of...or looked upon and treated as a full blooded Greaser might resent it to such an extent as to cause him to commit the crimes he did.' While not especially rare, this title is not widely known among students of Mexican American history. See also Adams, Six-Guns 1362. First edition (first printing). A near fine copy in wrappers (paperback).
