Real photo postcard. 'One of the early buildings near Fairholm was not a resort lodge or hotel but the small cabin of Caroline Jones, who settled on Lake Crescent in the early 1890s. Originator of the name 'Fairholme,' Caroline Jones, later became the wife of Theodore Rixon, best known for his work with Arthur Dodwell in conducting a survey of the Olympic Forest Reserve between 1897 and 1900'--NPS.gov.
