Senate Ex. Doc. No. 14. 51st Congress, 1st Session. Folding map. Detailed and historically significant account of negotiations between the U.S. government and the representatives of the Coeur d'Alene tribe of northern Idaho over the purchase of a portion of lands previosly reserved to the Coeur d'Alenes. The U.S. wished to re-acquire the lands to satisfy local timbering and mining interests; the Coeur d'Alenes were reluctant to sell, citing neglect of previous agreements. The government negotiators note the Coeur d'Alenes 'displayed surprising business sagacity, coupled with an exaulted idea of the fulfillment of promises.' First edition (first printing). Original self-bound wrappers, bound in later gray paper-covered boards with gilt lettering front cover and spine. The binding is stamped with the gilt pictorial logo of Ye Galleon Press of Fairfield, Washington.
