Chief White Elk at Siwash Rock [RPPC]
Gowen Sutton Co., (ca. 1920). Photograph. Item #144131
ISBN: 281AIB1031883
Image of international fraudster, an Italian-American born Edgardo Laplante, who travelled the world as a Chief White Elk, seducing women and living off the generousity of others. He was, however, remarkably effective at selling war bonds during the First World War. This image shows him in full Indian-style regalia with his hands raised in the air, perhaps making some sort of blessing. Fine. Postally unused.
