The first two, of four, installments of Watkins' account of marrying a Chinese man at the height of the anti-Asian sentiment in the US. Her story was ghostwritten by a young Katherine Anne Porter and serialized in four issues of Asia magazine (the first two of which are present here). The following year, the magazine pieces would be collected and published as a book of the same name, which is generally credited as Porter's first book. These two issues also include two photo-illustrated stories about Melanesia by Martin Johnson. Wear to the spines of both issues, including some loss. Very good copies overall.
