195 pages. The author's first book, a novel with blurbs from Eudora Welty, Harper Lee, and Stephen Spender. First editions (first printings). The book is found with two slightly different dust jackets. In the generally accepted first issue, the names of the writers who contributed blurbs are printed in a light color of ink. In the other issue, the color is much darker. This pair includes both issues. There are a couple of small spots on the fore-edge and a previous owner's name in the second issue copy. Both jackets are very good, with light wear. The first issue jacket is noticeably tanned. The top-edge stain is also slightly different between the two issues, with the first issue book much redder than the second.
