State Property in Danger of Being Confiscated by School Moving Bill
University of Oregon, [1932]. Ephemera. Item #228976
Folder with single double-sided fold-out sheet with 9 panels of views of University of Oregon buildings and the campus. This publication was issued to fight the Zorn-MacPherson ballot initiative. The bill was pushed by the head of Oregon State College in Corvallis, who envisioned closing the University of Oregon and Western Oregon College (both colleges now universities) and consolidating facilities in Corvallis. The press discovered that the OSC chancellor who cooked up the idea only had an honorary doctorate, granted by a junior college, and he was a bigamist. Oops. The ballot initiative was outvoted 6 to 1. (See 'In 1932, voters decided to keep UO in Eugene' in the Eugene Register-Guard, Mar. 28, 2017). Very good.
