Arthur Pillans Laurie, 1861 - 1949, was educated at Cambridge, becoming a chemist, and later became principal of the Heriot-Watt College, Edinburgh, in 1900. He was Professor of Chemistry to the Royal Academy of Arts, and sometime Fellow of King's College, Cambridge. First edition (first printing). Near fine copy in blue cloth covers with bright gilt lettering on spine. Very good, unclipped, dust jacket with edge and corner wear, small edge chips and 1 1/4 inch closed tear on upper front cover.
