Shortridge (1861-1952) was a Republican Senator from California from 1920-1932. He was a prominent voice for racist anti-Japanese forces in California. He also served as special attorney for the Justice Department in Washington from 1939-1943. One sheet, folded for mailing, on United State Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections letterhead, dated July 18, 1928, sent from 512 De Young Building, San Francisco, addressed to the American Diplomatic and Consular Agents Abroad, introducing a friend who will be visiting South America. Sheet has glue marks on verso, presumed removed from an album.
