Photograph, 9.5 x 7.25 inches, black-and-white. Harry Redl (1926-2011) was an Austrian immigrant to Canada who spent 3 years in San Francisco photographing the art and literary scene. His photographs of that era have been displayed at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and the Whitney Museum. Victor Weybright (1903-1978) was a writer and publisher. In 1948 he and Kurt Enoch founded the publishing company New American Library. He retired from NAL in 1966. Signed by the photograher and dated 1958 below the image. Inscribed by Caldwell: 'To Victor Weybright, A token from Erskine Caldwell.' A fine copy matted and framed.
