Original B/W panorama photograph, 6 x 31.3 inches, printed on 8 x 33.75 inch paper. Photograph shows massed uniformed troops with band and officers in front on open field with barracks and vehicles in background. The 31st Artillery brigade was formed from Coast Artillery Corps Companies from Key West, Florida, January, 1918. They were sent to France and returned to New York in 1919. In October, 1919, they moved to Fort Lewis. The U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) had an administrative corps responsibility for coastal, harbor and anti-aircraft defense of the U.S. and its territories between 1901 and 1950. M. D. Boland (1873-1950) was a Tacoma-based photographer who worked for over 30 years. First edition (first printing). Very good copy with holes in margins from prior mounting and chip missing from right lower corner not affecting image. Boland - E 1241 printed in negative in right lower corner.
