Single sheet 8.5 x 14 inches. Jacob Miller Campbell (1821-1888) was a colonel during the Civil War. Autograph letter, dated, January 9, 1867, copying letter of December 30, 1866, addressed to J. M. Campbell, regarding a petition from D. J. Merrill, Superintendent of the Cambria Iron Company to resurvey properey in Conemaugh township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, because of inaccuracies. Letter concludes with addendum, dated Jan. 11, 1867, addressed to Henry Scanlon, Surveyor for Cambria County, granting the petition and ordering a re-survey. Signed by Campbell. Letter has been previously folded and is split along middle fold into 2 pieces.
