Contemporary map of the Kill Devil Hills area (on inner surface of folder); brief history of how Wilbur and Orville Wright conquered the skies (20 page brochure); reproduction of May 1900 letter to Octave Chanute from Wilbur Wright describing Wilbur's plans to develop a flying machine (5 pages); reproductions of Wrights' calculations made on the back of scraps of wall paper (2 pieces); seven framable copies of B/W photographs of Wright gliders and flyers;B/W photograps of the life balance in the winf tunnel and three of the airfoils tested on the balance (2 photographs); reproduction of original 3-view drawing of the Kitty Hawk flyer made by the Wrights on brown wrapping paper; reproductions of Wright Brothers' patent and their telegram announcing their first flight (2 items); reprint of first published account of the Wrights' successful development of the airplane. Folder with surface scuffs and tanning. WITH: 2 B/W signed prints of pencil drawings, by S. J. deMarco, Wright No. 3 Glider (1902) and Wright Model Ex (1911). Each print 11 x 14 inches. Salvatore 'Joe' deMarco (1919-2012) was well-known for his pencil drawings of aircraft. Prints are near fine. Prints were purchased at Smithsonian Institute.
