Single sheet folded, 7 x 9 inches when folded. Alexander T. Vogelsang was a lawyer and was nominated by Woodrow Wilson and corfirmed as First Assistant Secretary of the Department of the Interior, serving from 1916-1921. He was a vocal and strong supporter of the Hetch Hetchy project. Typed letter signed on Vogelsang Department of the Interior letterhead, dated March 29, 1918, addressed My dear Bill (William Fairbanks) and forwarded by Fairbanks to Edward O'Day with hand-written note by Vogelsang: 'Tell 'Harry' O'Day of Town Talk that his 'Theda Bora' as Cleopatra is witty no end. A.T.V.,' and below that in Fairbanks' hand: 'Now Blush, Bill.' Very good copy with rust mark from removed paperclip at top of letter. Letter previously folded for mailing. With hand addressed (by Fairbanks) envelope with return address.
