3-ring binder containing the history of the yacht Contender: built in 1905 by Geastemunde, Germany, as Armgard by Gseebeck from Stockhauser's design. Built for Prince Eric von Schaumlippe, nephew of Kaiser Wilhelm. To U.S. in 1922, renamed Poinsettia. Rebuilt in 1930 at Long Beach, renamed Contender. Rebuilt 1951 at Oakland by Donald Hannaford, who owned the Mar Monte Hotel. In 1953 the yacht was sold by Hannaford to E. C. Holland. The yacht sank in 1953. 16 B/W 8 x 10 inch fine photographs of the boat under sail and its interior and 1 photo of the deck and cabin plan of the Contender by Dan London of Moulin Studios of San Francisco are present. Blue print, 34 x 30 inches design of boat, drawn by Cliff Cox. Many details of the yachts history including its racing successes are present. A unique archive.
