Notecard, 3.75 x 4.75 inches. John Burns (1858-1943) was a socialist trade unionist and Liberal Member of Parliament. He was President of the Local Government Board 1905-1914. He resigned over the Liberal cabinet's decision in 1914 to declare war. Lady Dorothy Fanny Nevill (1826-1913) was a writer, hostess, horticulturalist and plant collector. Autograph note, on Local Government Board, Whitehall, S. W. letterhead, dated May 31 / 1910. 'Dear Lady Dorothy, Fix a date for Mrs. McClure and I will come. Yours sincerely, John Burns.
