Photograph shows trail entering lower left, crossing a woopden bridge and continuing past a hut on right with man standing in mid-lower foreground and a massive rock wall rising in background with gorge central. A near fine copy by an unknown photographer. On rear in ink holograph: 'A wooden gallery runs up into the Gorge 1800 feet, to be extended 3 miles further. The water from the torrent comes from the Glaciers of Mount Blanc. 10 Apr. 1862.'.
