Autograph letter: Savannah 18th Dec, 1860: 'Chas Dellinger, Esq., Dear Sr/s,...It is impossible for me to relieve you with payment of my Bill drawn against the 69(?) Bales Cotton...If I had any capital, you should have it however great the Loss, but I have nothing...but I continue to hope for better times. A. R. Gordon.' On the eve of the Civil War and the effects of falling prices for cotton being felt in the South. About 150 words. Letter previously folded.
