Autograph letter signed on letterhead British Museum, Nov. 23d, 1871, addressed to 'dear Mr. (T. W.) Silver. Letter thanks Silver for 'the superb pine that you have has the kindness to send me.' Letter continues 'let me add how sincerely grateful I am for your friendly recollections of me.' About 85 words. Richard Henry Major (1818-1891) was a geographer and map librarian. He worked at the British Museum from 1844 to 1880 and was the first keeper of the map library from 1867 to his retirement in 1880.
