Typed letter signed, on letterhead of Gavin McNab, Schmulowitz, Aikins, Wyman & Sommer, San Francisco, dated February 7, 1945, addressed 'My dear Ed (Edward F. O'Day). Letter thanks O'Day for his long service on the S. F. Library Commission and wishes him well. About 180 words. Nat Schmulowitz (1889-1966) was a noted lawyer, civic leader, author and bibliophile. He successfully defended Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle in a notorious murder trial. The Schmulowitz Collection of Wit and Humor was donated by him to the S. F. Public Library. Letter previously folded.
