'Wild Bill' (James Butler Hickok)

Educator Supply Co., 1924. First Edition. Hardcover. Item #50150

80 pages. Four black-and-white illustrations. 4.5 by 7.5 inches. 'Reprinted from the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader.' A mostly mythical account of Wild Bill Hickok's life. Adams Six-Guns (no. 501) reports, 'Only a few of these little books were printed' and 'Wild Bill, facing the desperate character who entered the front door, had shot him with a revolver in his left hand, while with his right hand he had thrown the other gun over his shoulder and shot the man coming from the rear. History does not record a more dare-devil act, a more astute piece of gun work, or a cleaner fight.' If only it were true. Adams didn't think much of Coursey's accuracy, but he included this book in his checklist of the 150 most important books on Western outlaws and lawmen. First edition (first printing). Gilt on front cover dimmed; a few tiny spots on the back cover, else very good.
